On June 11 – 14, 2018, Odessa Regional Institute for Public Administration of the National Academy for Public Administration under the President of Ukraine hosted the Ukrainian-Turkish “Local Self-Government and Regional Development: Modern Challenges for Turkey and Ukraine” Summer School having been held in the network of cooperation with the Public Administration Institute for Turkey and Middle East (TODAIE, Ankara City, Turkey).
During the festive opening ceremony, the Institute First Deputy Director Mykola Popov greeted the participants on behalf of ORIPA NAPA management, expressed satisfaction with the dynamic development of partnership between institutions and wished successful and fruitful work. Besides, the participants were greeted by the head of the Turkish delegation, Assistant Director of TODAIE Foreign Affairs Center Bora Aksu, and Vice-Consul of the Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey in Odessa Mutlu Gureli.
The Summer School, English language being its working one, was attended by the staff members, students and post-graduate students of partner educational institutions. The program provided for presentations and discussions on a wide range of issues concerning public administration and local self-government, reforming the civil service, training of management personnel, etc. The school participants’ reports were accompanied by an active discussion. During their stay in Odessa, the Turkish delegation members got acquainted with ORIPA NAPA, the city’s historical and cultural sights, and visited the National University "Odessa Law Academy". On June 14, the Turkish delegation visited the Consulate General of Turkey in Odessa, where they held a meeting with the Vice-Consul Mutlu Gureli. TODAIE representatives and the Institute’s staff thanked the Turkish diplomat for the support of cooperation between the institutions, and expressed their hope for continuing professional contacts. Mutlu Gureli noted that the Consulate General would continue to promote the development of academic cooperation between higher education institutions of Turkey and Ukraine.
During the Summer School festive closing ceremony, ORIPA NAPA Director Professor Mykola Izha congratulated all the participants on the successful completion of the training, and emphasized that direct contacts and experience exchange between young scientists would contribute to the improvement of the public administration system of the both countries. For his part, Dr. Bora Aksu sincerely thanked all the institute representatives for the wonderful organization of the event and hospital reception. All the participants received the according certificates.
