On 19 May 2017, the concert “European Music in the Ottoman Palace” was hosted at the Odessa State Philharmony and presented by the Turkish conductor Dr. Emre Araci with the Odessa Philharmonic Orchestra. The arrival of this renowned Turkish conductor to our city was organized by the Turkish Consulate General to Ukraine in the city of Odessa within the events dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkey and Ukraine.
Dr. Araci, a Turkish musician and conductor, who lives in Great Britain, has made an original contribution to the study of the historical Turkish-European music. He is the author of innovative research projects focusing on European music traditions at the Ottoman court in the 19th century.
The concert was attended by the Deputy Director of the Institute, M. Popov, the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Public Administration, I. Kusplyak, the Head of the International Relations Department A. Maiev, the leading specialist of the International Relations Department A. Kovalevska, the assistant professor of the Department of Ukrainian and Foreign Languages, K. Horshkova, and the senior lecturer of the department, T. Kemarska, accepting the invitation of the Turkish Consulate General.
At the end of the concert, a reception took place, which was visited by foreign diplomats, heads of higher education institutions of Odessa, journalists and artists. During the event, M. Popov and A. Maiev had the opportunity to talk with the Turkish Ambassador to Ukraine, Mr. Yönet Tezel, and the Turkish Consulate General to Ukraine in the city of Odessa, Mr. Ufuk Torgul. On behalf of the educational institution, the representatives of the institute appreciated the invitation and the opportunity to enjoy wonderful music, expressing their willingness to continue the mutually beneficial cooperation.
